Shooting Indoors and Outdoors

Here are some of the pros and cons of shooting outdoors and indoors.

Traveling
If shooting indoors, the production crew and cast do not have to travel to different locations for the different scenes. This will save time as recce-ing of location need not be done. Another advantage of shooting indoors is that we could avoid natural interference like weather (eg.rain)
- Ambient lighting
The indoor lighting is usually more controllable than outdoor lighting. At the same time, it is a good idea to adjust the white balance in the camera to suit the situation.
- Depth of field
Having a large depth of field is a must when shooting outdoors but is not equally important for indoor shots.. Objects both far and near will be in focus and appear equally sharp.
- Props
They will be minimal props if we were to shoot indoors. This is where creativity takes place, where certain props which could not be used will be replaced by other options.
-Learning of additional softwares
Softwares such as adobe after effects needs to be studied and used, if we were to shoot in the studio instead of outdoors.
